Ok so as I have stated in the past, Christians should be able to talk about anything with other Christians who have open ears, heart, and eyes, without getting offended at all. Yes, it is a perfection of Christian behavior not seen so much but it is the mark that the bible sets for us spiritually related kinfolk.

Let’s get on with the bite:

Pro 1:7 - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Ok I hear you, you want to know what despise really means:

To despise is to feel a strong sense of contempt, disgust, or disdain toward someone or something, viewing them as beneath respect or completely worthless. It is an intense emotion that often goes beyond simple hatred, typically involving strong moral disapproval.

For example: "She despised the way he treated others."

Key Characteristics

  • Moral Condemnation: It usually involves judging someone as morally deficient or vile.
  • Intense Dislike: It combines disgust with a very low opinion of a person or object's worth.
  • Rejection: It frequently leads to feelings of loathing or the urge to completely dismiss and avoid the subject.

Common Synonyms

  • Loathe: To feel intense disgust or abhorrence.
  • Scorn: To look down upon as unworthy or beneath notice.
  • Detest: To dislike intensely.
  • Disdain: To refuse or reject due to a feeling of superiority.

So when you despise wisdom and instruction, that is a doctrine or teaching from one called to teach, then you meet the definition of that scripture which states, “fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

So if tongues can be supported as being necessary and a gift from God and you reject it you are foolish. End of the story.

SPEAKER_00

Hello, this is Ken, your podcast preacher. Welcome back to my podcast Deep Waters. This podcast is brought to you by Applied Strengths Ministry, where we believe working together on our strengths is the effect of working out the will and calling of God in and through our lives. Thanks for joining me. Let's open up in prayer. Blessed be the God and Father of your Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed you with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as he chose you and him before the foundation of the world. That you should be holy and without blame before him in love, having predestined you to adoption as your son or daughter by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, which he purposed in himself, to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he made you accepted in the beloved. In him ye have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace which he made to abound towards you in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to you the mystery of his will, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times, he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth in him. Ask that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, and the knowledge of the mystery of him. Ah, to the deepest knowledge of him that you are willing and able to receive, that the eyes of your understanding would be open wider, and that you would be enlightened to who he is, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in you, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power towards you who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he had worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, that he would grant that you would be strengthened with might through his spirit in the inner man, in and through your spirit and heart, and that you would be able to stand against your flesh, this world, and the devil, in and through any in all temptations. I pray that your love may abound more and more in all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God. I ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will and all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing him, being fruitful in every good work, strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, in all patience and long-suffering with joy, giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints who walk in the light. I pray that your hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love and unity, and that you would attain to all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which has been given to each of my listeners by Christ Jesus, that you are enriched in everything by him, in all utterance and all knowledge, so that you do not come short in obtaining or operating in your calling and purpose, nor in using any spiritual gifts or talents, eagerly waiting for the continued revelation of our Lord Jesus, who will confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the near coming of the day of our Lord. God is faithful by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son Jesus. Okay, so now therefore, my sisters and brothers in Christ, when things get tough, think about whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and whatever things are of a good report. If there is any virtue, and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things alone. I pray that in these very days that you would let your love be without hypocrisy, hate and loath what is evil, cling to what is good and righteous, be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, and honor giving preference to one another, not lagging in diligence, fervent and fully gulfed in spiritual fire, serving the Lord, rejoicing in hope, walking in the peace of God, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfast in prayer, distributing to the needs of the saints, that is each other, and that you would be given the hospitality. May the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like minded towards one another, according to Christ Jesus, that we would learn to be of one mind and one accord, operating completely and fully in love and unity, always striving for the working out of God's specific will for each of our lives, while working in partnership with each other, within the church, and the Holy Spirit, as he manifests his miracles, signs and wonders through the daily activities of our ministry and kingdom work, and while we also go out preaching the gospel in word and deed, let us love and serve one another, our enemy, and those who wouldn't expect us to do so, considering each person better than ourselves. Find up any words or thoughts that are contrary to the love of God, or which would set you back in your Christian walk. Step out in faith today and walk with God, being assured that nothing will separate you from Him as long as you abide in Him. Call those things that don't exist as though they do. Remember he that is in you is greater than He that is in the world. Be more than a conqueror today, submitting to the will of God in everything. Let each of us express uncompromising love towards one another and humility while maintaining a teachable spirit. I pray that God will give you the revelation within this message that he intends you to receive with the understanding. Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of his knowledge in every place. In Jesus' name we pray, amen. The title of this message is Speaking in a Heavenly Language. Okay, so I have stated in the past Christians should be able to talk about anything with other Christians, with open ears, heart and eyes, without getting offended at all. Yes, it is a perfection of Christian behavior not seen so much, but it is the mark that the Bible sets for us spiritually related kinfo. Let's get on with the bite. Proverbs one seven. The fear of the Lord is a beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Okay, I hear you. You want to know what despise really means. To despise is to feel a strong sense of contempt, disgust, or disdain towards something or someone, viewing them as beneath respect or completely worthless. It is an intense emotion that often goes beyond simple hatred, typically involving strong moral disapproval. For example, she despised the way he treated others. Key characteristics moral contamination it usually involves judging someone as morally deficient or vile. Intense dislike it combines disgust with a very low opinion of a person or object's worth. Rejection, it frequently leads to feelings of loathing or the urge to completely dismiss and avoid the subject. Common symptoms to feel intense disgust or arborance, to look down upon as unworthy or beneath notice, to dislike intensely, to refuse or reject due to a feeling of superiority. So when you despise wisdom and instruction, that is a doctrine or teaching from one called to teach, then you meet the definition of that scripture which states fools despise wisdom and instruction. So if tongues can be supported as being necessary and a gift from God, and yet you reject it, you are foolish. End of story. Now if you've been taught that tongues are demonic or not of God, or not for today's church, you are accountable for knowing what the Word of God states about it, to avoid having someone else teach you how to play the fool. Now please hear me, I have come across many who would die on this sword in complete ignorance of what the Bible teaches. And I'm not sure if you can be a fool two times deeper than once, but why would you hope the Bible was wrong when it is so clear that tongues is a necessary gift which builds up our very spirit? Now before we get along in this message, you should know that tongues is not a salvation issue, but your walk with God will be limited in so far as walking with God goes. You will hear, as I try to clarify any misconceptions about tongues, that it has been spread about by the devil for centuries, and of course the father of lies doesn't want you to use tongues as it is a weapon against him in many cases. I want you to be able to grow and to have discussions about the hard stuff. Is it not hard enough to be a Christian without also having issues with other Christians? John thirteen thirty four. And I'm not talking about those who think that they are Christian, but those who actually are, and that you are able to tell by their fruit, character, spirit, and by their service and love. I know as well as you do that we should be able to get along better than any people group on this very planet, because of the one common event that has captured all of us as authentically born again believers, which is that we were authentically born again. Yep, it seems simple enough, but in fact it is not. We are different than those who do not have access to God's heart, spirit, and mind. Therefore we should be defined differently, and behave accordingly. Test the spirits and use discernment, supporting your agreement or disagreements with the revelation of the Word of God. No, not what you think it says, and not necessarily what you may have been taught at church, but what the Holy Spirit says about your position. Look, Romans twelve three, for I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. Listen, as Christians, we are all in different places, and if you are less spiritually mature than somebody else, one, you should know it by their conduct, and two, by the position that they are operating in. If I am called to be a teacher, and I am, and you have a question about what I am teaching, then it is first prudent to be sure that your position is scripturally supportably correct, before coming to me and just telling me that I am whacked. Yes, but no, this happens all the time. Indirectly you are actually challenging God, the assignment he has placed on my life, and the anointing that he has given me to teach you. Listen, does that not be so? We must deal with each other differently than someone who does not have the help of God. So since we know that any one of us can get wobbly on our wheels sometimes, ought we not consider all things comparing scripture with scripture? Now but in past conversations with some peeps about this topic, I heard the use of the word common sense used in that conversation. And but I was also watching quite a few YouTube video shorts and hearing the same thing from mostly the younger generations. So I could see how the devil slipped in a Mickey into the drink so that he could cause the new generations to use their own minds to decide if the things of God are real and true. Yep, it's a faulty measuring stick, and even in its definition we can see it's demonic in nature. In its simplest form of understanding, it is important to understand that if you are an authentically born again believer, you are not common but uncommon. We have common beliefs within Christianity, but when our old man, our old life is crucified in Christ, and you become a new creation, you are no longer among those who are common and separated from God, or who are ignorant of his word, and have accepted the badge of being a fool. Is it a common thing to see the invisible? Not even among Christians who live or are supposed to live in that dimension. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Common sense relies on the natural man's input and agreement, right? But how then can they agree on anything spiritually if they cannot see it, receive it, or discern it? Second Corinthians fourteen eight. Why we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Okay, so go ahead and try to explain to someone who is not a believer that you see things that are not seen. But here again, God has found a way to deal with that awful bait of Satan, which is intended to get people to look with their natural eyes. Look at what Elijah's servant could not see with his natural eyes. Elijah saw it and could call it common, but in fact, even he could not do so because if it were in fact common, his servant could have seen it or them and had a very different response. What are you seeing supernaturally? What might you be missing if you indeed count on your natural eyes to guide you and your thoughts? Romans twelve two. Second Kings six seventeen and Elijah prayed and said, Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see. Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elijah. Okay, so I'll post Romans twelve two because you should hear what it says, and how it warns us to be different, and in fact it could be said that we are indeed to be uncommon. Romans twelve two, and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. So if we do not trust common sense, then how do we proceed as an authentically born again Christian? Let's get Paul's intake on this to see if he can help us Ephesians one seventeen that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. Give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation, knowledge of Him over anything of common sense, and in so doing I will show you how one ought to live in Christ as best as I know how Tongues Corinthians twelve ten to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. So because of the current condition of the church, which is that we are in the Laodicean church age, and many are without the Holy Spirit, and many are not making disciples or equipping the saints for the work of ministry, which leave many Christians without ammo. Oh they may have weapons and know the word in part, but without those elements being in place, that is being equipped for the work of ministry, being a disciple and being taught how to use and function in a spiritual office, if called to do so, and how to use the Holy Spirit given spiritual gifts, what chance do they have? If the devil has talked you out of seeking tongues or of using tongues, then he has stolen some of your ammo. Additionally, if you throw out tongues, you have to throw out all the other gifts of the Holy Spirit. Do you believe in using any or all of the gifts, spiritual tools that God has given you as you go and preach the gospel? If so, then you should bibly babbly away. We cannot get around these scriptures, which is perhaps why some are up in arms about this interesting manifestation. When I got saved, I did not know how to speak in tongues at all, and yes, I was definitely intrigued when I heard others doing it. And yes, I looked up every scripture on tongues to see if it was okay. And well, we are. And I was set on learning how to speak in tongues, and did eventually do so, and in doing so, my prayer life was extended in time and in effectiveness. My longest praying day was about eight hours. ninety nine point nine percent of my prayer was in tongues, and boy did I have some kind of experience while doing so. I will provide some testimonies of speaking in tongues so that you are aware of your need for it. I had an inspection about four hours down the road, so I jumped in my state car, a crown victoria, and began praying to pass the time. But in that process I moved from praying into my native language and then busted into tongues. And well, what I noticed first off is that in my native language, I ran out of things to pray for after a short bit, but when I tongue spun, I could rip a wrap for over four hours without taking a break. How is this even possible? I hope to show you in this message, but for now we get back to the testimony. So I finished the inspection and headed back down the road. I immediately went back into praying in tongues and gawked at the gas gauge and noticed that I needed gas, so I pulled over at the only gas station within a hundred miles of where I was at. I filled up and got into the car, and while I was doing so, I noticed that the gas station had closed and that the attendant had left. I turned the key over and the car went nothing. It did not even turn over. And immediately I thought about how the only attendant who could help me had just drove off. I tried several times and got nothing. I was getting worried because besides the restaurant across the street, there was nothing but dirt and very long roads between me and the office. I was about three hours from the office. The thought passed through my head, what am I going to do? And but another voice dropped in and said, What have you been doing the whole time while driving? Now if you want to know if God talks to men, there it is. I said, praying. And he said, Do you think you might be getting a response? I said, Well, I guess I am. And he said, Well, get back to it. So I began praying in my native tongue first, as I knew how to command that nasty spirit to leave, and then I went into tongues again and tried to start the car, and it started. This is not magic but spiritual authority in action. And while I'm looking back, I believe God was training me how to use this gift. Bam, I was excited, but not so fast. I decided to go to the restaurant and call the state garage and ask them what I should do as I did not want to get down the road and break down in a pitch black desert, and I didn't like the idea that I could be out there in black darkness land all night waiting for a response from the state garage. But God had other plans, and after about two hours of waiting for their return call, I decided to get in a car and make a dash for it. And so because I learned why the first time, I began praying again in both languages and it started again. I got back to Pasadena and parked the car in the parking structure and went home. The next day, Tyler, the logistics guy, asked how I had gotten home. I told him that I drove the car home, to which he replied that it was impossible to drive the car home as it was not running or drivable. After some discussion about prayer and God and sharing this testimony about how I got home, he said that it was still impossible to have driven that car anywhere. I told him that I was in the office looking at him, and it is because I drove the car home. So now did praying in tongues get me home in a car that was not drivable? According to my logistical guide, the car was undrivable, but yet I got home without issue after it started at the restaurant. Does this express the power of tongues? Was it the devil that was speaking to the devil the whole time as some would believe? Nope, a house divided cannot stand. So it was God and the Holy Spirit teaching me something about the authority that I had in him and how to use it. Mark three twenty five and Matthew twenty eight, sixteen through twenty. Mark sixteen seventeen, and these signs will follow those who believe. In my name they will cast out demons. They will speak with new tongues. Signs following, fruit bearing. Hm. So if you are an authentically born again believer, then you should be speaking with new tongues. Yep, it's not your native language, but with new tongues. And look, I was just shown this, which is that some of you might be tuned out because you do not speak with new tongues. But do not do so because you may have simply been taught to unload your spiritual gun, and that everything will work out if you do so. And besides speaking tongues in church is spiritually illegal without an interpreter, and so should not be done in those cases. Well, I am glad that you've been taught this because there is nothing more satisfying to expose the lies of the father of lies so that you yourself can now be equipped to speak easy, another testimony. So I was living in Glandora, California, which is Southern California at the time, and was home alone as my wife had traveled to a wedding in Chico, so I ended up being home alone, or so I thought. I noticed that I was struggling with lust way more than usual, and so I asked God, why was this so? I was reading a book by Rick Joyner at the time, a Christian prophet, and I remember I heard God say, Pray over the house, interrupting my reading. I ignored the voice or thought in some wonderment, and kept on trying to read, but each time I got to the bottom of the page, none of the information was retained at all. It was as if I never read the page. Then I heard God say again, as I was in my what is happening muse, pray over the house. Then I said, Oh it's you, and so I grabbed my anointing oil and started at the windows and doors nearest the back of the house and worked my way to the front of the house. Once I passed through the kitchen and got to the office, which was an enclosed garden room, it was as if I had stepped on an electrical current. All of the hair on my body stood up, and it was like a spiritual warning that something was present that shouldn't be. And interestingly enough, before I was anointing the house and praying in tongues, I did not feel their presence at all, and yet there they were. The current condition, electrically speaking, was a little painful as the hair seemed to be trying to escape my body. I decided at this time that it was a good idea to leave the kitchen and go outside. As I was walking to the front door, I heard that familiar voice which started this whole thing off, and he said, Really? As in question form. I was like, oh, and so I went back to the kitchen, where the electrical shock was waiting to take its form again. I began praying in tongues as it seemed an appropriate response to whatever was causing this strange anomaly. As I was praying and oiling the doorway, which led into the computer room, I heard a screechy screaming noise, such as I never did hear, not even in an alien or dinosaur movie. I began mentally rollodexing all of the animals that it could have been that maybe just ran across the yard, but nothing came to mind. So I popped back into why was I in the kitchen in the first place? Resolving that it was an undetermined noise and possibly a demon. I noticed that the hair of my body was still standing at attention, so I continued to pray. About three to five minutes later, another, very similar noise did the very same thing, screechy screaming across the room. At this time I knew that I had just moved a couple of demons out of the dry places and out of my house. Luke eleven twenty four. When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places. Seeking rest and finding none, he says, I will return to my house from which I came. At that very same time the hair on my body came to a rest as it should be, and it was like I was in a warm shower, and the whole atmosphere of my house had changed. For you that do not have peace in your house, and you are sure it is not because of unrepentant sin or an unbeliever doing shenanigans, it may be time to get to anointing some doors and windows. Ah, and don't forget your tongues, which was the ammo that set my house in order. I looked into why this might have happened and found that a person who was staying with us had struggled with bad images online and had opened the door to the demonic. Oh, so you didn't know that if he struggled with Porn that you give the devil permission to enter your house and cause all kinds of chaos? Yep, he can, but you can clean up the mess with your tongue. Your spiritual language is a weapon that can reverse the curse and get you free again. But now the cool things about having personal accounts of the power of God is that no one, not anyone, can reverse the testimony or nullify the powerful and positive impact that using tongues can have in your life. Another testimony. So I went to Sacramento to attend the training and it required me to stay overnight. So as was my practice back then, I put on some Jason Upton worship music, as I could grab a hold of the hem of Jesus' garment when I was listening to him worshiping God. I was reading a book written by Rick Joyner when I experienced the blank page syndrome again. I heard God say pray, and I was like Samuel in first Samuel three one through fifteen. Who what hey? Samuel hadn't quite yet learned to hear God's voice, and I was surely in the same place. I tried to read the page again and bink, nope, it was as if the page had gone completely blank in my head. And then again I heard God say pray. I again stated, Oh, it's you, and bound up out of my bed and began praying. I almost jumped immediately from my normal tongues to Mongolian. You say, Podcast preacher, now I know you have a demon. But I say, as I was praying in this language, I asked God what it was, and he told me. I should have asked for the interpretation, but I was still a baby Christian and was overly excited that I was just hearing from God that I had so often read about. So in my hotel room I was walking around the room praying when I decided to karate chop the air and point my chop at one of the beds and say, I hate sin. Poof, all of the electricity went off in my room, and my hair, what is it with my hair anyways? So my hair stood as if it were trying to remove itself from my body. Yes, like in my kitchen, only worse. So I had the very real and present feeling that something very evil was in my room. I can't lie, I was a bit intimidated, as I knew I was hitting something within this Mongolian prayer language. I finally decided to walk into every corner of my room, expecting that I would bump heads against a demon or something else. I continued to walk the room until it broke. No doubt I should explain that, right? The fear was exchanged for peace, and all my hair that was standing attention calmed down from its riotous behavior. I looked at the clock for whatever reason, and it was eight fifty eight PM. So strangely enough the electricity came back on, and so I went to reading my book again, although after something like that experience, it is quite difficult to go back to anything. I returned back to my hometown and asked the guys in my small group, the leadership teams, and the board members if anything strange had happened while I was away. Nope was a consensus. And so a couple of weeks went by and one of the guys in my men's group came forward and shared this story. He said that on the day that I was praying, he was using drugs with his wife, and when he went to poke her arm with the needle, the needle bent and did not inject. Then he tried to use it himself, and he had suddenly lost all the appetite to use those drugs. I asked him what time it was, as if he was at all concerned about the time, right? But he did in fact look at the clock and it was eight fifty eight PM when the appetite left him. Mongolian tongues was God's weapon of choice, and I was blessed enormously to have been selected by God to be the speaker of the house, or rather the hotel room. Now I know some of you may be a little stubborn and want even more examples, but I say that's enough. By you resisting the Holy Spirit and telling everyone that those spiritual bullets are not necessary is foolish and against what the Bible teaches. You are, as the Bible states, stupid, Proverbs twelve one, or just rebellious, and are seeking teachers who will satisfy your itching ears. Second Timothy four three. I'm trying to help you and want you to know that it is a common thing for people to regurgitate what others teach them as if it was straight up out of the Bible. Second Timothy two, fourteen through fifteen. Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about with words, to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourselves approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Okay, so let's get Pentecostal or Holy Spirit religious. Acts two three. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. Acts two four. And then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Google states, as if we need Google's opinion, right? Speaking in tongues is when an individual speaks in a language that he or she does not know. These tongues can include human languages with which the speaker is unfamiliar, Acts two, eight through eleven, or non human, holy languages with which no person is familiar. Do you want to know how to pray in tongues? Allow the Holy Spirit to give you utterance. Get around those who are and do pray in tongues. Sometimes these things are better caught than taught. Okay, so this is evidence that tongues can and does include speaking in a known language, even though you may not know it. Let's get it again. Acts two hundred eleven. Cretans and Arabs, we hear them speaking in our own tongues, the wonderful works of God. As mentioned above, sometimes the tongues are in another known language, like Mongolian in Russia, as I spoke. The Cretans and Arabs stated that these guys were speaking in their language, so it is possible that you do not necessarily need an interpretation of tongues as much as you need a translation. And so but this is important to know because some say tongues should never be gibbered in church unless someone can interpret. My response is how will you know? Unless you allow them to speak. I have read where someone spoke in an unknown language, unknown by them, but two rows back someone who spoke Italian belts out the translation. We may not know this in advance of someone speaking in tongues. Acts ten forty six, for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered. And of course the devil can imitate tongues, but not all tongues all of the time. Acts nineteen six and when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Okay, so while this might upset ninety percent of the spiritually droughty churches out there, but you, the one on fire for God, who wants all things God, will or could, or should, look to find someone who is anointed and appointed to pray for you, so that the Holy Spirit can come upon you, and that you might speak with tongues and prophesy. After that, miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, variety of tongues. What? There is an order of events for the supernatural offices and gifts from the Holy Spirit, and well the other less flashy gifts, such as administrations and helps, and no doubt service is also in this list. Now it is only dull to those not called or equipped to function in those gifts. But do not think for a minute that you are exempt if your gift is not listed here or if you are not wired for these specific things. There are other gifts, and no doubt, at least one is for you to operate in, and if you don't believe in tongues, it might be tongues that is your gift. Now but we should go on in reverse for just a minute. Varieties of tongues. What say you? Does it say that any of these gifts are to be used in silence? In your closet? We have to be careful about this stuff. Just because a church might say no tongues in church or no healing in church does not mean that this should be the way that it is. You personally are responsible for knowing God and for knowing how He works and sounds, and even looks. And God has appointed these in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers. After that, miracles, then gifts of healing, help, administration, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles, are all prophets, are all teachers, are all workers of miracles? Do all have the gift of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? Tongues is a ministry gift as well as a gift that everyone can tap into. So when it states do all, it is talking about will all minister with this gift. You see, it states the same thing about healing, and but yet we know that we can all be used to heal, and in fact are instructed to do so. But some have a ministry of healing which is very different from the occasional use of the gift. Mark sixteen, eighteen. Now the issue regarding do all is a non issue in relationship to tongues, as I think everyone can have tongues. But I also believe that not everyone will be called to use this gift in church, as was the case here in Corinthians. We will see how Paul navigates through this more in the coming scriptures. I'm now going to walk through one of the largest sections of scriptures that discusses tongues, as I think we will get on the other side of this thing in doing so. Corinthians fourteen. Pursue love and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him. However, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. Right out the gate. So this scripture in part can say this in another way. He who speaks in a tongue speaks to God. So when you say it is of the devil, is he speaking to God? Nope, and neither are you when you avoid speaking in the language of God. Satan cannot decipher tongues, because it is a wonderful, stealthy weapon to operate in. Now for context, if I speak in an unknown to me language, am I still speaking just to God? If I speak in Spanish, for example, and there is a Spanish speaking individual who hears me and tells me what I said, does that apply to this scripture? In Acts two, six, it states in part, everyone heard them speaking in his own language. So who were the everyones? Could we say that they who were speaking in an unloan language were speaking both to the people who understood that language and to God? I think so. It is also true that they, in this specific case, were speaking in a spiritual language and not in an unknown language. This too is a tongue dat, unless we allow it to happen in church, so that we can give God an opportunity to use someone's translate will leave us confused. The idea is that well, we just don't want to allow tongues in church because God may not show up. And if this is your thinking, you have greater problems in resisting God's gift of tongues. Also, and another thing is that it states he who speaks in a tongue without stating it would be a limited or specifically chosen person. And we can see this because we can all prophesy. Notice he did not say if you do miracles, operate in gifts of healing, helps or administrations, gifts not assigned to everyone, then you should limit them and just desire to prophesy. Look and know that this is difficult to unpack, but it is possible that some tongues are not for the church, and some are specifically for the church. And but those for the church, not everyone will be called to speak or to interpret. I really like that understanding. But on we go. But he who prophesies speaks edification, exhortation, and comfort to men. For he who speaks in a tongue edifies himself. So who prophesies? Well Paul stated that he wished we all would. Does this mean that it is possible, or do we take the position and say that since I have no desire to prophesy, then I must not be called or equipped for it? I know, those who have a fear of public speaking are in agreement with that argument, but truly it holds no water. Now by edifying yourself, Decom states that edify means to instruct or benefit, especially morally or spiritually. Uplift. So if you speak in tongues, you are benefiting yourself. Hm, so when I was praying in Mongolia and Russia, was I edifying myself? Nope, I was warfaring and interceding for someone at that time that I did not know I was warfaring and interceding for. I was excited to do it, but notice I wasn't in church when I was doing this. Yep, nope, I was all alone. And so it is possible that there are in essence public and private tongues. I think the Bible is saying so. We will see this as we move through it. But he who prophesies edifies the church. I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied. For he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, and less indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification. Almost, right? We were going to just jump right off the tongues bus and hop on the prophesying bus until we saw how that ended, right? Now look at what it states, which is that he who tongues must also interpret. Now I have seen where one speaks in tongues and another interprets, and I ask if this is okay, and I would say that the Bible in this space does not say that, which means at least in this section it cannot be so. The same who speaks in tongues in a church setting must also interpret. Maybe we get something different in another place. But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching? Ah now we are hopping, yes, unless means that there is a way to speak in tongues openly. Yes, besides interpretation, we, you or I can also give you the revelation of what I said, the knowledge of what I said, prophesy to you about what I just said, or by teaching what I just said. Paul didn't even say that by interpretation here, did he? Now it is the Holy Spirit that would work in each of these five scenarios, right? Revelation, knowledge, prophesying, teaching, and interpretation. Even things without life, whether flutes or harp, when they make a sound, unless they make a distinction in the sound, how will it be known what is piped or played? For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle? So likewise you, unless you utter by the tongue words easy to understand, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will be speaking in the air. So is Paul being clear that if we speak in tongues in public we should have one or more of the five things going on? And but I say, unless we allow it to be spoken in church, we may not provide God the opportunity to work in any one of these five ways to work out what he is saying. Verse ten There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance. Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me. Again, Paul is being clear that we should understand what is going on and being said, and of course, yes, we will begin to the other scriptures that would seem to contradict this, but we'd only come to the conclusion if we don't understand the purpose of the tongues when they are indeed being spoken. Even so you, twelve, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel. So if you're speaking in tongues, and if it's going to edify the church, that means you have to be in church. So here he is not saying, therefore do not do it. He is saying that since you want to do it, be sure you are doing it for the encouragement of the church, and that as you do this you will excel in the gift. Verse thirteen. Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. Aha, surprise. It is just as I said, right? Since we are allowed to do so, let us pray for the interpretation, and if God gives you the interpretation, you may not know that he is going to do so until after you speak out in tongues. John eleven twenty two. But even now I know that whatever you ask of God, God will give you. So if I am led to speak in tongues in church, I should also be led to ask for the interpretation. If I don't get the interpretation, does this mean we never try that experiment again? Nope. And yet there are those who believe exactly that. Nope, we try again, and eventually the Spirit will give you the gift of interpretation. Earnestly desire or covet the best gifts. Do not shut them down because when you stop by, no one provided an interpretation. You first must know what the church is doing, right? I know of some that get the whole congregation to start praying in their prayer language, and it can throw you off if you in fact do not yet understand this. But the Bible never stated that you shouldn't be uncomfortable when learning about your new life in Christ. Growth is paramount and necessary for new believers, even for old believers. If you cannot support your position from the Bible, listening to all sides, including what the Holy Spirit has to say, then you ought to not form a judgment or an opinion. Corporate praying in tongues is not for speaking to an individual person or for speaking in an unknown language, but for you to join in corporate prayer. You say, but I cannot understand it. I say if the church broke out in prayer and everybody was praying in English, would you understand that? Nope. And but are you intended to understand that or are you intended to contribute by praying yourself? Okay, we move on. Verse fourteen for if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. Now he's talking about him, understanding him, not others, see? He's also saying that he will pray with the spirit, and in doing so that he will understand what he is praying. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. Okay, so I have heard a few singing in the spirit. I am aware that there were some who did this in the Welsh and Azusa Street revivals. To my knowledge they didn't sing in an unknown language, but in a language that the listeners could understand. Verse sixteen. Otherwise if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say amen at your giving thanks, since he does not understand what you say? For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified. My thought is that he is speaking of the difference in tongues. Okay, so the corporate prayer is again not designed to be a message to any one individual or as a message to the church. No, but there is a tongue that is to be a message to an individual or corporately, and a tongue that can be in an unknown language, which can also be for the individual or corporately. I think we need tongue contacts teaching eighteen. I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all, yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding that I might teach others also than ten thousand words in a tongue. He is talking about those who are speaking over one another, as they think that they have a word for the church, but in doing so it caused confusion, and but also because no one can or is willing to ask for the gift of interpretation, it leaves the unknown message on the vine to die. Brethren do not be children in understanding, however, in malice be babes, but in understanding be mature. In the law it is written, with men of other tongues and other lips I will speak to this people, and yet for all that they will not hear me, says the Lord. Therefore tongues are for a sign. Verse twenty two. Okay, so tongues are for a sign to who? Church peeps? Nope. We go on as this mystery unfolds. Not to those who believe, but to unbelievers. Bing bing bing, tongues are for a sign to the unbeliever. Now we have some tongue context, but now I'm going to throw a pretty wrench in the mixola discussion and tell you that church is not for the unbeliever. And so if tongues are spoken in the four walls, the same rules apply, but we won't be confusing those with no understanding of what's going on. So to stretch out the conversation we are to go out into the world and preach the gospel, and as we do so, at times the tongue's gift will manifest and understanding, if asked for, will also come. And when you do this in an unknown language and then proceed to tell a person what you said, and having done so without ever learning the language, it will edify them. You see, and before I go on, we should all be aware that several things are taking place, which makes things a little bit more complicated, and which may require some pivoting in order to get the word out. Since we are not equipping the saints for the work of ministry, which is why there is so much confusion about this, the tongue's topic, as well as other spiritual gifts, we are not making disciples. We have set the Holy Spirit aside, and are now preparing to move Jesus completely out of the church. Revelation chapter three tells us that he is standing outside of his church and knocking, asking that we let him back in. So being in the Laodicean church age is going to add complexity to our Christianity in these days. But we know and grow and go in spite of the times and seasons, right? But prophesying is not for unbelievers, but for those who believe. Yes, see how the gifts have a purpose? Prophesying is for those who believe. Clear. Therefore, if the whole church comes together in one place and all speak with tongues, and there comes in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind? I cannot argue with what Paul has stated here, but and except for the fact that the church is not for the unbelievers, you can be uninformed and go to church, but this should not be a permanent condition. The uninformed are the ones that are not being equipped for the work of ministry. New Christians can be taught this stuff and should be. Now I did a message titled Church Purpose, in which I show with Scriptures how we are not to invite the unbeliever into church, but it is for the believer and those being saved. Verse twenty four, but if all prophesy and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all, and thus the secrets of his heart are revealed, and so falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you. So if an unbeliever creeps in on the church action, then by all means, should we not break out and prophesy? Alright, we move on. Verse twenty six How is it then, brethren, whenever you come together, each of you has Psalms, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. If you think about the church condition today, could Paul say that about your church? Church that each of us is operating in the Holy Spirit like these guys were? I think not, but hope so one day. See, they had an interpretation. But what was happening in this specific church is that they were inebriated and enamored, charmed or captivated, or in love with the magic tricks. The Corinthian church was a very young church. You see, their example of a church was how the Pharisees did the show. We know that they were condemned for it, as they did it all for show, and it seemed that these guys were following suit. Paul wasn't having any of it. He was working his way to the problem and was just near to hitting it. Let all things be done for edification. So their motives were off. He tells them why they should want to operate in these specific spiritual gifts. Verse 27. If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at least the most three, each in turn, and that one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. So but I say in these church ages we do not equip the saints nor teach them on the gifts, so they won't know how to even ask for the interpretation if someone pops off. So when the service are such that the church is worshiping the Lord and someone wants to break out in tongues, then they should do so. And I know you might say, wait, podcast preacher, it states not to do so if there is no one to interpret. Yes, and but how will you know if there is anyone to interpret, including yourself, unless they speak in tongues? Now but after they do so, if no one lays claim to the interpretation, then yes, they should pray quietly in tongues if they feel compelled to do so. And but the next guy can then speak in tongues and either interpret or wait for an interpreter. If he has no one, he can continue. If not, he too can join the quiet club. And lastly, a third may take up the tongues and either interpret or wait for an interpreter. Same saying. Verse twenty nine Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent, for you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets, for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. Skipping verses thirty-four and thirty-five, we continue with verse thirty-six. Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant. Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decent and in order. So we see that the final instruction in which it states, do not forbid to speak with tongues. And yes, this is talking about the church. You see how we had to work through the whole scripture to get to the bottom line? Well let's see what the other scriptures are saying, to see if they go one way or the other. John four, twenty three through twenty four. But the hour is coming and now is when the true worships will worship the Father in spirit and truth. For the Father is seeking such to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. How do you worship God in spirit? Tongues is a great way. But since we worship him at the church, should we be doing so as a message to the church? Or should we be doing it to worship him? Yes, ask him, he will give it. But you must open your mouth in faith, believing that you have it. That is the ability to worship him in spirit. Philippians three three. For we are the circumcision who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Clear enough, right? Acts two four. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Utterly ridiculous to say you do not want this gift. If you are not comfortable using it in public, then by all means use it in your prayer times with the Lord. Ephesians six eighteen. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end, with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Go ahead and pray in the spirit without tongues. Ah wow, that sounds different. Let me pray for you. No, I'm just being funny. Jude 120. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. How do you build yourself up if you are not doing what Jude states to do right here? Didn't this guy know Jesus? Yes, he was his half brother. You haven't really hit the wall if this one scripture doesn't move you to ask him for the gift of tongues. Romans 8 26. Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses, for we do not know what we should pray as we ought. But the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. No tongues, then groan your way through worship, but do not do it publicly as they might ask you to leave. But no, see how the one in whom the gift comes through is now also praying through us? As even he knows we have weaknesses. Listen as we close, for we do not know what we should pray for as we ought. Look, it's a non-issue to have tongues as a gift of the Holy Spirit, and if you do go after getting them, you are not sure about certain situations and just ask God or a Bible teacher. I didn't do this message to shame or humiliate anyone, as I myself had to wrestle with this thing. You see in my testimonies that God uses that gift like a sword. I was convinced after the first time that this happened. No amount of teaching could have done it. God gave me the gift and allowed me in every situation to use it privately, of which I did. Do I pray in tongues in church or at prayer meetings? You bet, but it is for churchy reasons. I hope this has helped you by revealing that it is actually Satan that doesn't want you to speak in tongues, not God. Let's close in prayer. May the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, that he may establish your heart's blameless in holiness before your God and Father at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. Now may the God of peace, the one in whom we call wonderful, counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, may He Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. To our Lord of Lords and our King of Kings, to our high and lifted up great high priest, who has, once and for all, paid the price, that you might see and hear God. May you hear and respond to our prayers. To our God we stand and pray, as he too always lives to make intercession for you while seated at the right hand of the Father. May the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you what is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom we glory forever and ever. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen. Well that's it for today. Remember, it's not what you find wrong or disagree with regarding these messages, but what you can take away from it. Together we can do more to impact the kingdom than if we work alone. Let's flip the script and steal, kill, and destroy the works of the enemy and create space for the light of light to shine through into people's lives.
