So, what does viscosity mean? And all of my cars guys shoot up their hands but for the rest of us and even for the car guys we are not just talking about the chemical make-up of car oil but relating how the different blends apply to different seasons and types of cars, or more specifically to types of engines. If you have a high revving engine built for performance then the oil thickness and make-up will be different than for a car, like a Pinto or Honda, and even different based on climate or season. Oil for cars in Alaska in the wintertime will basically be a viscosity quite different than if you live in Death Valley. Using the same oil for both places will get you and your car in trouble.

And to add to the mix we also have synthetic oils which is basically man-made oil in which all cars do not do well with this type of oil which I learned the hard way.

Ok so let’s break down five of the oil viscosities so that I can then move from this analogy to what this message is about.

Oil viscosity measures a lubricant's resistance to flow. In multigrade motor oils, the first number (ending in "W" for Winter) indicates the cold-temperature flow, and the second number represents the high-temperature thickness

Five common motor oil viscosities and their typical uses include:

  • 0W-20: An ultra-thin, low-viscosity oil primarily used in modern, fuel-efficient, and hybrid engines to reduce friction and improve gas mileage.
  • 0W-30: A low-viscosity formula optimized for colder climates, allowing for quick engine flow during winter starts while providing excellent protection at higher temperatures.
  • 5W-20: A common, slightly thicker oil widely used in many smaller, modern passenger cars to balance fuel efficiency with engine component protection.
  • 5W-30: One of the most versatile and commonly used oils, frequently recommended for a wide range of standard passenger vehicles across various climate conditions.
  • 10W-40: A thicker, higher-viscosity oil historically favored for warmer climates, older vehicles, and higher-load conditions, providing a stronger lubricating film at high operating temperatures.

So we can see that your engine or car has a specific type of oil recommended based on the year, make and model along with if the engine has been modified or not. And well if you have modified your engine then you would automatically know what type of oil to run to give it the maximum protection.

SPEAKER_00

Hello, this is Kenny, a podcast preacher. Welcome back to my podcast, Deep Waters. This podcast is brought to you by Applied Strengths Ministry, where we believe working together in our strengths is the effect of working out the will and calling of God and into our lives. Thanks for joining me. Let's open up in prayer. Blessed be the God and Father of your Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed you with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as he chose you and him before the foundation of the world, that you should be holy and without blame before him in love, having predestined you to adoption as your son or daughter by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, which he purposed in himself, to the praise of the glory of his grace, and which he made you accepted in the beloved. In him you have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace which he made to abound towards you in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to you the mystery of his will, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times, he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth in him. I ask that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation and the knowledge of the mystery of him, and to the deepest knowledge of him that you are willing and able to receive, that the eyes of your understanding would be open wider, and that you would be enlightened to who he is, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in you, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power towards you, who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, that he would grant that you would be strengthened with might through his spirit in the inner man, in and through your spirit and heart, and that you would be able to stand against your flesh, this world, and the devil in it through any and all temptations. I pray that your love may abound more and more in all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense until the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ of the glory and praise of God. I ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will and all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing him, being fruitful in every good work, strengthen with all might, according to his glorious power, in all patience and long-suffering with joy, giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints who walk in the light. I pray that your hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love and unity, and that you would attain to all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which has been given to each of my listeners by Christ Jesus, that you are enriched in everything by Him, in all utterance and all knowledge, so that you do not come short in obtaining or operating in your calling of purpose, nor in using any spiritual gifts or talents, eagerly waiting for the continued revelation of our Lord Jesus, who will confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the near coming of the day of our Lord. God is faithful by whom you will call into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus. Okay, so now therefore, my sisters and brothers in Christ, when things get tough, think about whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and whatever things are of a good report. If there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things alone. I pray that in these very days that you would let your love be without hypocrisy, hate and loathe what is evil, cling to what is good and righteous, be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor, giving preference to one another, not magging in diligence, fervent and fully engulfed in spiritual fire, serving the Lord, rejoicing in hope, walking in the peace of God, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfast in prayer, distributing to the needs of the saints, that is each other, and that you would be given the hospitality. May the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like minded towards one another, according to Christ Jesus, that we learn to be of one mind and one accord, operating completely and fully in love and unity, always striving for the working out of God's specific will for each of our lives, while working in partnership with each other within the church and the Holy Spirit, as he manifests his miracle signs and wonders through the daily activities of our ministry and kingdom work. And while we also go out preaching the gospel in the word and deed, let us love and serve one another, our enemy, and those who wouldn't expect us to do so, considering each person better than ourselves. Find up any words or thoughts that are contrary to the love of God, or which would set you back in your Christian walk. I'll step out in faith today and walk with God, being assured that nothing will separate you from Him as long as you abide in Him. Call those things that don't exist as though they do. Remember He that is in you is greater than He that is in the world. Be more than a conqueror today, submitting to the will of God in everything. Let each of us express uncompromising love towards one another in humility while maintaining a teachable spirit. I pray God will give you the revelation within this message that he intends you to receive with the understanding. Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of his knowledge in every place. In Jesus' name we pray amen. The title of this message is Viscosity Ensuring You Are Correctly Anointed and Appointed for Your Specific Ministry. So what does viscosity mean? All of my car guys shoot up their hands, but for the rest of us, and even for the car guys, we are not just talking about the chemical makeup of car oil, but relating how the different blends apply to different seasons and types of cars, or more specifically to types of engines. If you have a high revving engine built for performance, then the oil thickness and makeup will be different for that car, like a pento or Honda, and even different based on the climate or season. Oils for car in Alaska in the winter time will basically be a viscosity quite different than if you live in Death Valley. Using the same oil for both places will get you and your car in trouble. And to add to the mix, we also have synthetic oils, which is basically man made oil, in which all cars do not do well with this type of oil, which I learned a hard way. Okay, so let's break down five of the oil viscosities so that I can then move from this analogy to what this message is about. Oil viscosity measures a lubricant's resistance to flow in multigrade motor oils. The first number, ending in W for winter, indicates the cold temperature flow, and the second number represents the high temperature thickness. Five common motor oil viscosities and their typical uses include zero W twenty, an ultra thin, low viscosity oil primarily used in modern, fuel efficient and hybrid engines, to reduce friction and improve gas mileage. Zero W thirty, a low viscosity formula optimized for colder climates, allowing for quick engine flow during winter starts while providing excellent protection at high temperatures. Five W twenty, a common, slightly thicker oil well used in many smaller, modern passenger cars, to balance fuel efficiency with engine component protection. Five W thirty, one of the most versatile and commonly used oils, frequently recommended for a wide range of standard passenger vehicles across various climate conditions. And 10W forty, a thicker, high viscosity oil historically favored for winter climates, older vehicles, and high load conditions, providing a stronger lubricant film at high operating temperatures. So we can see that your engine or car has a specific type of oil recommended based on the year, make and model, along with if the engine has been modified or not. And well if you modified your engine, then you would automatically know what type of oil you should run to give it the maximum protection. For high performance engines, selecting the right oil viscosity ensures your engine maintains optimal pressure and metal-to-metal protection under extreme heat and heavy loads. Two of the most widely used viscosities for these demanding conditions include 5W40, a versatile multigrade oil designed for both excellent cold start flow and thick high temperature protection. Popularized in performance vehicles, it provides critical wear reduction during spirited driving without being overly thick. 15W50 or 20W50, a thicker, heavy duty oil, typically recommended for extreme track use, high load towing, or classic muscle car engines. It ensures superior film strength to maintain stable oil pressure in severely hot environments. Okay, so we're almost there, but it is important that you understand this technical part of oil and how specific it needs to be based on what conditions you live in and what type of car you drive. For Death Valley's extreme desert heat, mechanics and automotive experts recommend stepping into a thicker multigrade oil, such as a 5W40 or a 0W40, because heat thins motor oil. These fully synthetic oils offer excellent thermal stability, ensuring your engine remains protected during brutally hot idling and heavy load driving. We can use the following guidelines to select the best viscosity. Modern and turbocharged engines, 5W40 or 0W40, are highly recommended. They provide rapid flow upon startup while resisting severe thermal breakdown when temperatures reach well over 100 degrees. Older and high mileage vehicles, many mechanics suggest, a slightly heavier oil like 10W40 or even 15W40 to compensate for the extreme heat. Always check your manual. While summer climates require thicker oils, always reference your vehicle's owner manual to find your manufacturer's approved operating range. Modern vehicles with tight engine tolerances like those requiring 0W20 can sometimes be damaged by oil that is too thick. We also have this question to answer. What viscosity of oil do I use for my car if I live in Antarctica? For Antarctica, a 0W20 or a 0W30 fully synthetic motor oil is generally recommended. The 0W indicates outstanding cold flow capabilities to prevent the oil from thickening into a sludge during sub-zero conditions, while the second number provides a required protection once the engine warms up. For optimal performance in extreme polar environments, keep these factors in mind. Fully synthetic priority. Conventional oils will thicken severely at the extreme temperatures of Antarctica, making it impossible to start your engine. Always use high quality, fully synthetic oil. Check your manual. While zero W formulas are best for the cold, modern engines have tight tolerances. Engine heaters, even with the thinnest oil, starting an engine in such an extreme environment is incredibly harsh. Using an engine block heater and an oil pan heater is a necessity to pre-warm the engine components before turning the ignition. NHRA drag racing engines use a wide range of motor oil viscosities, depending heavily on the specific class, fuel type, and engine clearances. They range from ultra-thin zero W lubricants to a thick 70 weight oil. Top fuel and funny cars, these nitromethane burning engines require exceptionally thick SAE 70 mineral or synthetic racing oils. Because of the extreme cylinder pressures and fuel dilution, they need high viscosity protection. Prostock, high precision machine naturally aspirated engines use ultra-low viscosity oils, frequently ranging from 0W3 to 0W10, such as Maxima Racing, Oil PSO, OWT, or Red Line 10WT. These are engineered oils to eliminate internal friction and drag to capture fractions of a horsepower. Sportsman's and bracket classes. Depending on engine design, builder preferences, and alcohol or methanol based fuels, viscosities often fall into the middle to upper range, such as 5W, thirty, twenty W fifty, or SAE seventy. So why again do we need this information, you might ask, in order to understand this message? So let's see what scriptures we are referring to in our oil analogy Ephesians four eleven, and he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers. Ephesians two twenty, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone. This next scripture shows us a couple of things, one in which the gifts work together, and the other clarifies that the gifts outlined in Corinthians twelve four through eleven are not specifically ministry gifts, but gifts for any authentically born again believer to use. Why is this important to know? Because the oil of viscosity of anointing is different for one who uses the gifts listed in Corinthians twelve four through eleven, and those ministry are office gifts listed in Ephesians chapter four and in this following scripture twelve twenty eight through twenty nine. And God has appointed these in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers. After that, miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, and varieties of tongues. This doesn't eliminate the need of the evangelist or pastor, as I have taught before, I believe these roles are fairly clear. The evangelist is the commercial fisherman of men, and the pastor or shepherd is responsible for a family of believers. Jeremiah ten twenty one and twenty three verses one through four, chapter twenty five, thirty four through thirty seven, and Ezekiel thirty four sixteen. Now as you look up those scriptures, do not be thrown off by their corrective nature against the pastor to shepherd position. They are included to show just how important a pastor position is and the expectations that the Father has for those called to be pastors. The condition of your sheep, not in all, but in many cases, will be on you as the pastor. Verse twenty nine are all apostles, are all prophets, are all teachers, are all workers of miracles? So this portion of first Corinthians twelve, twenty eight through twenty nine, we are talking about ministries and not just the day to day gift operations outlined in the following scripture. There are diversities of gifts but the same spirit. There are differences of ministries but the same Lord, and there are diversities of activities, but of the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same spirit, to another faith by the same spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one in the same spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as he wills, for as a body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. These gifts are the general gifting of the Holy Spirit, which are not representative of the ministries or offices of which some go by the same name. Example, there is a ministry of healing, and there is a gift of healing that the Holy Spirit can use anyone who is in a spiritual condition to use that gift. The ministry and offices again have a different viscosity anointing of oil than the gifts that the Holy Spirit distributes to each one as he sees fit to do so. Is this it for the gifts and ministry offices, Podcast Preacher? Nope. Romans twelve three eight. For I say, through the grace given to me to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith, for as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individual members of one another, having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us. Let us use them, if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith, or ministry, let us use it in our ministering, he who teaches in teaching, he who exhorts in exhortation, he who gives with liberality, he who leads with diligence, he who shows mercy with cheerfulness. Now I understand we can become confused if we do not explain this section of scripture, as some could go away thinking that ministry is for a select few, and not for every authentically born again believer. I know this happens as the church of today functions as if people actually believe the work of ministry is for those who are called into the office and ministry gifts. This is a detrimental way of thinking because the Bible states that we, all, everyone, has been given the ministry of reconciliation, for example. Why else would we be commanded to preach the gospel if not to reconcile people who have been chosen since the foundation of the world to be children of God? Second Corinthians. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. Mark sixteen fifteen, and he said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Ephesians one four, just as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Okay, so let's go back to Romans and break down that scripture so that we understand what it is specifically saying, because remember the viscosity anointing is different, depending on if you are working in the ministry of healing, for example, or just laying hands on people that they might, in seeing the power of God, believe in him. Look at Paul's example of getting ministry results Romans fifteen, eighteen through nineteen, for I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient, in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Ilaricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Okay, so keep in mind we are breaking down the gifts or ministries in Romans, not all of the gifts, offices or ministries. Romans twelve three eight, for I say through the grace given to me to everyone who is among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. In first Corinthians twelve, four through twelve it states in part to another faith by the same spirit. Is there a difference between these two mentioned faiths? I asked Google AI, which are the differences between the two faiths, and it came up with this explanation of which I agree with. Romans twelve three commands believers to be humble and evaluate themselves realistically, grounded in the grace and functional faith God has assigned to every Christian. It corrects self conceit by reminding the church that everything, including our ability to serve, is a gift from God, designed for the diverse functioning of the body. The gift of faith, Corinthians twelve nine, is a distinct supernatural charisma given to specific individuals for special tasks. The fundamental differences between them include Romans twelve three, scope applies to all believers, purpose it functions as a baseline of humility to help you accept your role in the church without boasting or comparing yourself to others. Nature, it is a foundational, saving and sustaining faith God gives to every Christian so they can exercise their everyday spiritual gifts. The gift of faith scope given to some believers, not everyone, as the Holy Spirit wills. Purpose. It is a special, miraculous surge of confidence used to overcome impossible obstacles, confront spiritual challenges, or witness supernatural interventions. Nature, it is an extraordinary endowment of the spirit that often works hand in hand with gifts of healings or miracles. So I know that that helps with gift distinction, right? It takes a different level or viscosity anointing to operate between these two gifts. For as we have many members and one body, but all the members do not have the same function. So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another, having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given us, let us use them, if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith. So I asked Google AI, what is the difference between Romans six, Corinthians fourteen, one through six, Ephesians four eleven, and first Corinthians twelve ten, as they relate to the gift of prophecy, and this is what it came up with. These four New Testament passages outline different dimensions of prophecy, categorizing it variously as a spontaneous personal ability, a church gathering manifestation, an office of church leadership, and an operation of the Holy Spirit. Four perspectives on prophecy Romans twelve six. The personal capacity focuses on the everyday exercise of prophecy as a spirit inspired grace given to individual believers. Paul specifies it must be used in proportion to our faith, meaning the message should align with the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith, the analogy of faith, and be spoken with a faithful, humble reliance on God. In tongues, which primarily edifies the speaker, prophecy is presented as a superior gift for the assembly because it directly edifies, exhorts, and comforts the entire congregation. Ephesians four eleven, the leadership office, identifies the prophet not just as action, but as a specific leadership role. In this context, Christ gave these individuals to the church for the equipping of the saints and for the building up of the body of Christ into maturity and doctrinal unity. This prophecy is one of the miraculous manifestations of the Holy Spirit given to the Church. In this context, it is a supernatural, spontaneous utterance that reveals God's will or gives insight distributed sovereignly by the Spirit as He wills for the common good. The key difference is at a glance. Romans twelve six emphasizes the method and boundaries of delivery. Ephesians four eleven addresses the function of established ministry roles. Okay, so viscosity anointings for each gift ministry or office operation. Something that may help is when you compare a similar task, such as writing letters, memos, or emails in your office. If you are a secretary or operate in a professional or technical processing position, or even in leadership such as management or an executive position, all of those positions will generate at some level letters, memos, or emails, but the difference will be in the authority in which a person is operating in as to the weight of the letters, memos or emails, and how much they get paid to generate letters, memos, or emails, as opposed to a lesser or entry level position. So hopefully I didn't make that more complicated than it needed to be. On to Romans twelve three through eight, specifically verse seven. Or ministry, let us use it in our ministering. Google AI states the difference between Romans twelve seven and second Corinthians five eighteen as they relate to the gift or calling to ministry and it came up with the following. Romans twelve seven and second Corinthians five eighteen represent two distinct facets of Christian ministry. Romans twelve seven addresses specific spiritual gifts given to individual believers to serve within the church, while Second Corinthians five eighteen describes a universal calling of all believers to share the gospel with the world. Romans twelve seven service as a specific gift, focus, functional abilities for internal church edification. Context In Romans twelve, Paul writes that God distributes grace to each person differently. This specific verse highlights the gift of practical service, along with teaching, leading, or giving. Application it signifies a specialized capacity to meet practical needs within the body of believers. Not every Christian has this specific gift, but those who do are instructed to use it diligently. Second Corinthians, the general calling of reconciliation. Focus, a mandate and mission for every Christian. The Greek term diaconian, which is ministry slash service, coupled with catalege, which is reconciliation. Context Paul establishes that Christ reconciled believers to God, and in doing so entrusted every single Christian with the ministry of reconciliation. Application. This is a universal directive, not a specialized spiritual gift. Every believer is called to share the message of Christ, reconciling love to the lost world. Note as we move through these definitions the distinction between the gifts, ministry, and offices. He who teaches in teaching. I again ask Google AI what is the difference between Romans twelve seven, Ephesians four eleven, and first Corinthians twelve twenty eight and twenty nine, and second Corinthians five eighteen as they relate to the gift or calling to teach. While all four passages address the biblical concept of teaching, they approach it from different angles functional gifting Romans, church office slash leadership, Ephesians and Corinthians, and the universal call to share the gospel, second Corinthians. So one Romans twelve seven, the focus, the act of teaching as a practical, everyday spiritual gift. The context Paul is discussing how the body of Christ functions, focusing on individual capacities. If your gift is teaching, your calling is to devote yourself to instructing the church. It emphasizes the practical execution of the gift rather than a formal title. Ephesians four eleven the focus, the teacher as an actual office or role. Context Paul refers to what is commonly called the fivefold ministry gifts, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teacher. Here the calling is not just the ability to teach, but the mandate to equip all believers for the work of ministry. These gifted individuals serve as leaders who mature the entire church. The context Paul organizes a church by its foundational functions, explicitly placing teachers third in importance, after apostles and prophets. This context highlights that while every believer is a part of the body, not everyone is called to hold the formal role or public responsibility of a teacher. Second Corinthians, the universal ministry of reconciliation, the focus, a universal mandate for all believers rather than a specific teaching gift. Context Paul states that God has given to us the ministry of reconciliation. This is not the spiritual gift of teaching, but the calling of every Christian to share the gospel and tell others how Jesus reconciled humanity to God. So I've been called to operate in a gift of teaching as described in Ephesians, and but in my thirty years as a Christian, I have not attended a church that both acknowledged that this was my calling based on my daily practice Christian disciplines and Christian ministry experiences, except in my last church attended. And but the importance and emphasis that was initially placed on this teaching ministry was soon lost in the confusion that others believed that they too had the same gift, along with others, so this placed them in a position to minimize the gift and to call into question my calling and purpose. I am now once again churchless, although I do have a small group that I am working with who will eventually be equipped to meet the major demands of Christians who were called and hand selected by God to be end time saints. Remember it's important to understand the church is not a location. Each individual represents the church. Now I'm not telling you to leave your church. You're going to have to walk that out with the Holy Spirit to ensure that the church that you attend is equipping you for the work of ministry and making you a disciple. So why do some see it and others don't? I don't know. I believe it might have to do with your spiritual motivation and just how important you think that you are as compared to your position and calling to others. Spiritual competition is a terrible thing and it does plague a church. In the end it will divide it, if not completely, shut it down. So I ask myself, is it correct to think this way? Nope. And but also is it any surprise that we have way more pastors than any other position within the fivefold ministry offices? Yes, the pastor and prophet positions have been attacked by Satan, and he has made them attractive to those who seek fame and fortune. But they will have to answer to God for those ministries when the wheels were wobbly because they didn't have the proper viscosity anointing for the position that they feel that God has called them into. Now I'm not talking about the falsies, such as the make believers, fake believers, nonbelievers, those stuck in the valley of indecision, Joel three fourteen, the false prophets, Jeremiah thirty one, and chapter fourteen, verse fourteen, Lamentations two fourteen, Ezekiel twenty two, twenty eight, Matthew seven, fifteen, and chapter twenty four eleven, and chapter twenty four twenty four, Mark three, twenty two, Luke six, twenty six, Second Peter two, one, and first John four one, false apostles, Second Corinthians eleven six and second Corinthians eleven thirteen, false Christs, Matthew twenty four, twenty four, and Mark thirteen twenty two, false teachers, Second Peter chapter two, wolves in sheep's clothing, Matthew seven fifteen, and thieves and robbers, John ten eight. And this short list does not include false religions such as Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian science, Mormons, Islam, Hinduism, or many of the other false wide path religions. Jeremiah five thirty one The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own power, and my people love to have it so, but what will you do in the end? You see, Christians can operate in their own power in their callings, without the aid of the Holy Spirit, that is, without the anointing. He who exhorts in exhortation. Now there are thirteen scriptures showing what the manifestation of this gift looks like, and even that of your operating in it, what the purpose is for you doing so, that you get the result of exhorting someone or a group of God's people. So again I ask Google AI, what is the difference between Romans twelve eight, Corinthians fourteen three, first Timothy four thirteen, and Hebrews twelve five, as they relate to the gift or calling of exhorting or exhortation. These scriptures use the Greek word pericale or its noun form paraclesis, which means to call alongside to help, comfort, counsel, or urge. While they all relate to exhortation, they differ in their context, application, and primary focus. So three different kinds of viscosities of oil. I hope that's starting to make sense now. Romans twelve eight functional spiritual gift focuses on exhortation as an innate, God given motivational gift within the church body. It is about everyday Christian living, urging, counseling, and encouraging others to practically apply truth and grow in their daily walk. Here, the goal of the exhortation is linked with strengthening and comfort to build up the church gathering. Timothy four thirteen, pastoral and public duty details in public, authoritative instruction rather than a natural personality based gift. Paul is directing Timothy to publicly read scripture, preach, teach, and exhort the congregation. He who gives with liberality ISGIA what is the difference between Romans twelve eight, second Corinthians nine, six through seven, Luke six thirty eight, and Malachi three, eight through twelve, as they relate to the gift or calling of giving, tithing, and offering. And so you know why I included tithing and offering is because we have a great majority of people who do not support the work of God, the very work in which they say that they believe in. Let us not be too alarmed at the following statistics. Only three to five percent of regular churchgoers actually tithe a full ten percent of their income. While the vast majority, 75% to ninety percent of members do not tithe. About forty percent of practicing Christians give an undetermined, variable amount, which can include offerings to their local church. The number ten actually means authority, so when you tithe ten percent of your gross, that implies that you're giving God full authority over your finances, which by the way, he gave you the ability to generate. The gap between what Christians believe and what they give reveals several specific giving realities. General giving studies indicate the average American Christian gives about 2.5% of their household income to their church. Non givers, nearly thirty seven percent of regular church attendees give absolutely nothing to their church financially. The tithing core, even though a small minority, five to thirteen percent follow traditional strict tithing, those who do are highly committed. Research from Carrie Neufoff shows that 77% of these committed tithers actually give above and beyond the 10% mark. Denominational differences. Tithing rates vary widely by tradition. For instance, Baptist 40% and non-denominational 34%. Attendees are much more likely to tithe compared to Methodists, which is 12%. Now I got this proud idea to see if other religions were also struggling with their converts giving. And yes, some of these falsy religions make it mandatory to give, but if people didn't want to give, they could just leave that religion. So they stay in spite of having to give. Almost all practicing Muslims financially support their religion through a mandatory alms giving system called zakat, which requires donating 2.5% of accumulated wealth annually if it meets a minimum threshold. For example, studies show that nearly 70% of US Muslims consistently fulfill this obligation during Ramadan. Is it any wonder why this religion is spreading? If you are one of those not supporting your local church ministry, believing that God doesn't need your money to grow his church, you may want to rethink your position. There is no official statistical percentage of how many Scientologists financially support their religion, but experts and former public members indicate the vast majority, often estimated at over ninety percent of active public members regularly contribute money. Let's finish with this question. What church has the most committed members who tithe, offer, or give of their resources? Studies show that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, the LDS or Mormon Church, has the highest rate of tithing compliance, with estimates indicating that a clear majority of its active members, historically around 70 to 80%, regularly pay a full 10% of their income. Among other Christian denominations, giving rates and practices differ significantly depending on faith, tradition, and church organization. And this is not saying that the Mormons are a Christian organization, for they are not, they are cult, but we already know that. But nonetheless, up to 80% are giving their full tithe. I just don't know why that's not happening in the one true church of God. But let's go on. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints tithing is a strict doctrinal commandment and a prerequisite for members to enter their temples, resulting in a historically high rate of ten percent tithing compliance. Across all faiths, the vast majority of regular church goers who give do not actually hit the ten percent mark. However, those who do commit to tithing are highly dedicated, with seventy cent percent of committed tithers actually giving above and beyond the base ten percent. Could we who are called according to his purposes change the world if we just changed our outlook on money? You do not have to be a billionaire to struggle with the greed of money or a spirit of poverty. Many who are living in poverty also struggle with a poverty mindset. Okay, so that was a bit of a departure, but perhaps we can all decide to change our world by our generosity. Okay, so here is a difference between being generous. These four Bible passages present distinct theological frameworks for giving. The Old Testament relies on law based command regarding tithing, while the New Testament teachings emphasize grace based generosity, personal conviction, and a spiritual gift or call to give. Malachi three eight twelve tithing under the law compulsory tithing. The context Malachi wrote to the nation of Israel under the old covenant. A tithe, meaning one tenth, was a strict commandment and was treated almost like a national tax to support the Levites and the temple. Difference withholding the tithe was viewed as robbing God, resulting in national consequences. It operates on obedience to a covenantal rule, offering a promise of material slash agricultural protection. Luke six three eight proportional giving and reaping the concept, principle of the harvest. The context Jesus teaches that your generosity to others dictates how God and humanity will interact with you. Difference This expands the definition of giving beyond just financial money or a fixed ten percent. It acts as a spiritual law of reciprocity, the measure, grace, mercy, material resource you use to bless others comes back to you in abundance, pressed down and overflowing. Romans twelve eight, the spiritual gift of giving, a concept, the calling slash gift of giving. Context Paul outlines specific spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit to the church. Difference While all Christians are called to be generous, Paul notes that some individuals are granted a specific spiritual gift or calling of giving. These with this calling are exhorted to give liberally or generously. It requires faith as individuals with this gift are often blessed with the capacity and drive to fund kingdom works on a massive scale. Second Corinthians six seven Grace Based offerings. The concept cheerful generosity. Paul is instructing the church on gathering and offering to support impoverished believers in Jerusalem. Difference This fundamentally transitions giving from a legalistic percentage to a matter of the heart. Paul mandates that believers should not give reluctantly, grudgingly, or under any compulsion, such as a law of tithe. Instead, you give exactly what you have purposed in your heart, driven by love and cheerfulness. Summary of differences tithing, Malachi, obligation, a fixed percentage rooted in old covenant law, offering Second Corinthians, voluntary, grace based, determined personally by the heart. General giving slash reaping in Luke, relational, a universal principle that what you pour out will be multiplied in return. And the gift of giving, Romans, a supernatural ability and calling given by the Holy Spirit to certain members of the body to give with exceptional liberality. Some people will be more generous because they operate in a ministry and have the grace to be supergenerous, but I believe we are all called to the tithe and offer, and do so because if it was called thievery in Malachi, does it not remain such in the New Testament? And Jesus connects our heart to our money and resources, stating that if we sir stating we cannot serve God and money, or mammon, or our possessions. Two more, and then we finish with the why the oil, that is the anointing, must be present when we are operating in our calling. He who leads with diligence What does this scripture in Romans twelve eight he who leads with diligence mean and does it apply to other office gifts or positions within the church? In Romans twelve eight, he who leads with diligence means those entrusted with guiding or administering the church must do so with zeal, wholehearted effort, and deep care. The Greek word for diligence is spooty, which translates to haste, eagerness or earnestness. It is the opposite of lazy or half hearted leadership. Does it apply to other gifts and positions? Yes, this principle of diligence extends to all spiritual gifts and church offices. In the immediate context of Romans twelve, six through eight, Paul connects this energetic dedication to all listed gifts. Prophecy should be used in agreement with the faith. Service should be done in the act of serving. Teaching should be done with focus and clarity. Giving should be done with generosity. Showing mercy should be done cheerfully. Broader application to church offices such as elders and deacons. While Romans twelve primarily lists broad, motivational spiritual gifts that all believers share, the standard of diligence applies perfectly to recognized leadership offices such as elders, overseers, and deacons. Timothy five seventeen commands that elders who lead the church well are worthy of double honor. Hebrews thirteen seventeen outlines that church leaders will ultimately give an account to God for those they shepherd, reinforcing the need for diligence and watchful care. Ultimately, Paul is teaching that wherever your specific role or gift is within the church, God expects it to be executed with full enthusiasm and persistent effort, not as a casual or secondary responsibility. He who shows mercy with cheerfulness. Question, what does the scripture in Romans twelve eight, he who shows mercy with cheerfulness mean? And does it apply to other office gifts or positions within the church? In Romans twelve eight, he who shows mercy with cheerfulness, the apostle Paul instructs believers to perform acts of compassion and assistance with a joyful, ready heart, rather than an out of reluctant obligation. The original Greek word for cheerfulness is hilarot, which is where we get the English word hilarious. It means a joyful, eager willingness that makes a recipient feel loved rather than like a burden. While the primary context focuses on the spiritual gift of showing mercy, such as caring for the sick, poor, or marginalized, the principle of the joyful attitude absolutely applies to all other spiritual gifts and church offices. Paul outlines this in the surrounding verses of Romans 12, explicitly linking specific attitudes to other leadership and service gifts. Leadership, he who rules, must be done with diligence, care focus, and hard work, not laziness. Giving, he who gives, must be done with liberality or simplicity, open handed, without ulterior motives. Teaching and exhortation must be done faithfully and passionately, giving oneself entirely to the task. What this means for the church today, whether someone is an elder, a pastor, a worship leader, or serves on the hospitality team, this passage establishes that the attitude is just as important as the action. God values not just what is done in the church, but how it is done. Serving in an office or position, no matter how spiritual or prominent, should never feel like a chore or imposition, and the only way that this would happen in truth is if you had a bad attitude, or if you were functioning in an office or position or even ministry that you weren't called to be in. Therefore, you don't have the anointing or the oil viscosity for that particular position. Your efforts should reflect the grace of God and the joy of Christ. We finish with a little definition of the Ephesians fivefold ministry offices. F. P. Meyer states it well when he shares a following about these offices and their purpose. Apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists are the gifts of the risen Christ to his church. There should be no rivalry among them. Each has his own work to do, as each wheel and a watch has its special function. None can do the work of another. I want you to hear that. None can do the work of another. That means they don't have the oil or the viscosity to cross from one position to another, and none should try to do it. The apostles laid the foundation of the city of God, and the work of each is represented by a different stone. The pastor prepares the ground and sows the seeds for the harvest, which the evangelist reaps, but God will proportion the reward between them. The teacher is as much needed as the evangelist, but neither is so essential as God, who gives the increase, without that all labor would be in vain. We learn from Ephesians four twelve that the prime duty of all these agents is not to baptize Mary and bury the saints, to comfort and console them, and to get them somehow into heaven, as the Arab guides get travelers to the top of the pyramids. Their duty, our duty, our calling, is to perfect, that is, to adjust the saints for the work of ministry, that they may contribute to the building up of the church. A minister is a failure if he does all the work himself. The people must all be at work in the quarries, shaping the stones, or fitting them into their places. This is the whole point of equipping the saints for the work of ministry. Now we finish with this first John two twenty. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. But the anointing which you have received from Him that is God, abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you, but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it is taught you, you will abide in him. This does not do away with the teaching position, otherwise that would simply be a contradiction with all the stuff we read about teaching already. I think I needed to include the viscosity in terms of the Bible definition so that you know what I'm about to say isn't made up. Remember in the beginning, we talked about the specific type of oil being necessary for a specific type of car in order for it to perform as intended. The car represents your calling and the seasons represent where you are at in God in a specific season. What I mean is that your oil will change as you mature in the Lord. I say this because as you mature in the Lord, your performance and efficiency will increase. Most of your fruit will remain. John 15, 16. When a car gets old, for example, the type of oil you use in the engine will change. To be more clear, you cannot perform as God intended if you are working in a ministry or position that God has not given you the oil that is the grace to do. I have seen this play out throughout my entire ministry life, because the church hasn't taken equipping the saints for the work of ministry seriously or making disciples seriously. The members or sheep are left to guess at what God might be calling them to do. Of course this depends on just how close they are to God. I found out eventually, but it wasn't through anyone in a church setting that I attended. It was through other Christians who were running hot for God. So how do you end up in your specific calling or purpose? Begin by sharing your faith with others. Get in a Holy Spirit-led church where God's people prophesy and read your Bible much every day. Then you will have the best chance of hearing and seeing God and understanding what He has called you into. If you try and guess that you might be a pastor when in fact you are called to be a teacher or an evangelist, you will not be anointed. In other words, you will not have the correct viscosity of oil to perform in that position. I don't know any other way to say this, but I hope that you get what I'm saying. Joel chapter 2 describes it pretty good. In part it states, everyone marches in formation and they do not break ranks. They do not push one another. Everyone marches in his own calling. You notice what happens when people know exactly what they're called to do? That's what happens. 1 Corinthians 12, 18, and verse 24. But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as he pleased. But our presentable parts have no need, but God has composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it. So it's God who puts you in a position. It's God who's called you to do certain things in the church. It is imperative that you try to focus on what God has called you to. It'll keep you from harming the body of Christ. Let's close in prayer. May the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before your God and Father at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. Now may the God of peace, the one in whom we call wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, may He Himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. To our Lord of Lords and our King of Kings, to our high and lifted of great high priest, who has once and for all paid the price, that you might see and hear God. May He hear and respond to our prayers. To our God we stand and pray as He too always lives to make intercession for you while seated at the right hand of the Father. May the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, the great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you what is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen. Well that's it for today.
