Why The Seven Feasts Matter Today

Ok so if I am just being honest, and I usually try to be, I wasn’t too concerned about these Old Testament celebrations. But in my continued pursuit of growth, I discovered in more than one book that they are an important sign to be paying attention too.

Let’s look at each one in order and see how these feasts actually give us a pretty accurate picture of Jesus and seven specific things that He did to fulfill those feasty requirements required in the old testament, while He was walking the earth in the New Testament:

The seven feasts of God (or appointed times outlined in Leviticus 23) are Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles. Jesus fulfilled the first four during His first coming and points to future prophetic events for the final three during His second coming.

The Spring Feasts (Completed by Jesus)

·        Passover (Pesach):

o   Meaning: Commemorates the blood of the lamb saving Israel from death in Egypt.

Core Old Testament commands Exodus twelve fifteen mandates eating unleavened bread for seven days and removing all yeast on the first day under penalty of being cut off from Israel. Exodus thirteen six repeats a specific seven day command regarding unleavened bread leading up to the festival observance. Fulfillment Jesus rose from the dead on this exact day, becoming the first fruits of those who will experience a resurrection life. A New Testament scriptures that mostly directly supports Jesus as a first fruits is Corinthians fifteen twenty, which explicitly calls Christ the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep, while the specific imagery of the barley harvest comes from the Old Testament laws in Leviticus twenty three, ten through eleven. Second Corinthians three three explains that believers are a letter from Christ written not with ink or on tablets of stone, like the law that was given at Sinai, but with the spirit of the living God on human hearts, fulfilling the transition commemorated on this day. The fall feasts, so the first four feasts that I just described are called spring feasts. Now we get into the fall feasts, which have yet to be completed as of january thirty first, twenty twenty six. So these all have a future fulfillment. Feast of Trumpets, meaning a loud blowing of the ram's horn, calling people to assembly and remembrance. The Old Testament scripture that most directly supports this description of the Feast of Trumpets is Leviticus twenty three twenty four and Numbers twenty nine one, which mandate a memorial proclaimed with a blast of trumpets, and a holy convocation, the direct feast instructions. Leviticus twenty three twenty four commands a day of solemn rest, a sacred assembly, a memorial announced by trumpet blasts. Numbers twenty nine one reiterate the precise observance for the first day of the seventh month as a day of blowing trumpets. Scriptural context of assembly and sound. Numbers ten through ten details a functional use of trumpets for calling the assembly together and serving as a memorial before God during appointed times. Exodus nineteen sixteen through nineteen connects a loud escalating trumpet or shofar blast directly to God's descent and gathering of his people at Mount Sinai. Future fulfillment points to the future gathering or rapture of believers, at the return of Christ accompanied by a heavenly trumpet blast. The New Testament statements that mostly support this description of the feast of trumpets are first Thessalonians four sixteen, the trumpet call of God for assembly, Matthew twenty four thirty one, gathering the elect with a trumpet, and first Corinthians fifteen fifty two, the last trumpet signaling resurrection. Key references first Thessalonians four sixteen describes the Lord descending from heaven with a loud command, the voice of an archangel, and the trumpet of God to assemble and raise believers. Matthew twenty four thirty one states that Jesus will send out his angels with a great sound of a trumpet to gather his chosen people from all directions. Revelation eleven fifteen, the sounding of the seventh trumpet proclaims that the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of Christ. So before we leave that feast, consider this that this is the very next feast that's going to take place in which Jesus during the rapture fulfills that feast. The next one is the Day of Atonement. Keep in mind too, if you're raptured, the Day of Atonement happens while we're in heaven. So the meaning, a solemn day of national repentance, fasting, and cleansing from sin. The Old Testament scripture that most directly supports this description of the Day of Atonement is Leviticus sixteen twenty nine through thirty one, reinforced by Leviticus sixteen, thirty through thirty four and Leviticus twenty three, twenty seven through thirty two. The key themes Afflicting the soul or fasting. God commanded Israel to afflict their souls, which historically and traditional Jewish and Christian biblical interpretation understands this as fasting to humble oneself. Sabbath of solemn rest. The day requires a total cessation of ordinary work, mirroring a strict Sabbath. National cleansing. The high priest made atonement for the sanctuary, the priests, and the entire assembly of Israel so that they would be clean from all their sins. Future fulfillment points to a national repentance and ultimate spiritual restoration for Israel upon Christ's physical return. New Testament support for Jesus fulfilling the Day of Atonement comes primarily from Hebrews chapter nine and ten and Romans chapter three. These passages explain how Jesus acts as both the high priest and the final sacrifice who cleanses sin. The New Testament passages in Hebrews nine verses eleven through twelve, Jesus entered the heavenly holy place once for all with his own blood, securing eternal redemption rather than using the blood of goats and calves. Hebrews nine twenty two. Almost everything is cleansed with blood under the law, and the Bible states that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Hebrews ten three through four. Old Testament sacrifices were an annual reminder of sins, but it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to actually take away sins. Additionally in the Old Testament, the animals just covered their sins, but they were still there. In the New Testament, Jesus became our sins and took them away. Romans three twenty five. God presented Jesus as a sacrifice of atonement or propitiation through faith in his blood. The Feast of Tabernacles, meaning living in temporary booths, to remember God's wilderness provision and looking to harvest joy. The Old Testament scripture that most directly and comprehensively supports this statement is Leviticus twenty three, forty two through forty three, combined with the harvest joy commands in Leviticus twenty three, thirty nine through forty, and Deuteronomy sixteen, thirteen through fifteen. The key scriptures Leviticus twenty three, forty two, thirty. through forty three commands living in temporary booths, so future generations know God made the Israelites live in shelters when he brought them out of Egypt. Leviticus twenty three thirty nine links the festival directly to the final gathering of the year's harvest and commands complete rejoicing before the Lord. Deuteronomy sixteen fourteen through fifteen explicitly states that you shall be altogether joyful in the harvest festival because God blesses all your work. The core themes temporary boost remembering the fragile, dependent years in the wilderness, wilderness provision, trusting God's daily physical and protective care in the desert. Harvest joy, celebrating the final agricultural ingathering with complete gladness. Future fulfillment points to the literal physical dwelling of God with humanity during Christ's millennial earthly reign. The primary New Testament passages supporting this description of Jesus in the Feast of Tabernacles are John 1 14 and 7 37 through 39 and Revelation 7 15 through 17. In John 7 37 through 39, living water and joy, Jesus cries out on the final greatest day of the Feast of Tabernacles, representing a water drawing ceremony that commemorates wilderness provision, offering Himself as a source of living water, the Holy Spirit John fourteen one, God tabernacled in flesh, states that the word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, literally tabernacle or pitched a temporary tent, mirroring God's physical presence in the wilderness tabernacle Revelation seven fifteen through seventeen ultimate harvest and shelter connects the imagery of God sheltering his people with the end of all thirst, sorrow and the final heavenly gathering. So what is just as important to know about the feasts besides what they represent and how Jesus' life is actually reflected in those feasts is the date on which they occurred and Jesus' fulfillment and what if any future dates are known about the last three feasts. The seven biblical feasts of Israel outlined in Leviticus twenty three are divided into spring and fall observances. The first four spring feasts were fulfilled by Jesus at his first coming, while the remaining three fall feasts are understood by many to await fulfillment at his second coming Spring Feast and Jesus fulfillment these feasts are considered fulfilled because of the birth and death of Jesus Passover celebrated on Nisan fourteen Jesus was crucified on this exact day as the ultimate sacrificial lamb Feast of unleavened bread celebrated from Nisan fifteen to twenty two Jesus' body lay buried in the tomb during the start of this feast, symbolizing sinlessness Feast of First Fruits celebrated on Nisan sixteen, the day after the Sabbath during Passover week Jesus resurrected from the dead on this exact day becoming the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. Feast of weeks or Pentecost celebrated on Shavon six through seven, fifty days after first fruits the Holy Spirit was poured out and the early church was established on this exact day, remaining unfulfilled fall feasts and future dates. The final three feasts occur in the Hebrew month of Tishri and do not have fixed prophetic completion dates yet, but their calendar dates for the upcoming twenty six and twenty seven cycles are Feast of Trumpets for Rashahana. The calendar date is Nisan one, sunset september eleventh through september thirteenth, twenty twenty six, and sundown october first through october third, twenty twenty seven the prophetic shadow associated by many with the future gathering or awakening signaled by a trumpet blast, also known as the rapture I also want to provide some explanations of these feasts and their projected time in which they are to happen as compared to the end times. The Feast of Trumpets is widely believed by many Christian eschatologists or those who are studying the end times to prophetically foreshadow the rapture of the church, the second coming of Jesus or the sounding of the last trumpet in the book of Revelation. Prophetic connections and timing theories the rapture connection many believers connect the holiday to one Thessalonians four sixteen through seventeen and first Corinthians fifteen fifty one through fifty two which describe believers being caught up to meet Christ amid the sound of a trumpet of God. This by the way is what I believe the no man knows phrase which is also called a Jewish idiom and there are many in the Bible just like we would say it's raining cats and dogs they use no man knows the day of the hour the same way. It's a Jewish idiom and the trouble that that creates is when Americans read that who don't understand the feasts because we take it literal yet there are over twenty five thirty different scriptures that tell us to be watching so that we don't get caught off guard. So because there's no contradiction in the Bible, the no man knows which is only mentioned twice in the Bible as compared to twenty five or thirty times where we're warned to be watching does not counteract the fact that we should be watching. Unfortunately we get so legalistic that we think oh we're never going to know when he comes back but the truth is we're going to know about when he comes back because the feast is anywhere from one to three days. It's contingent on the full moon. So the no man phrase historically because a feast of trumpets begins on the first day of the new moon witnesses had to visually confirm the sliver of the new moon before the festival could officially start. This gave rise to the ancient idiom that it is a feast, which no man knows the day or the hour, a phrase often paralleled with Jesus' statement regarding the timing of his return. The seven trumpets of Revelation The Book of Revelation outlines a sequence of seven angelic trumpet blasts that signal escalating end time judgments and the ultimate establishment of God's kingdom which interpreters link back to the imagery of this autumn festival. Views on eminence opinions are mixed among theologians, while some look to the autumn feast dates as a literal marker or calendar fulfillment for future prophetic events. Others argue against date setting emphasizing that biblical warnings command constant readiness rather than a specific calendar anticipation. Again I believe that that's a legalistic interpretation and you know I don't like that word interpretation of that scripture. The reason why watching is so powerful because we have many people who don't even understand the seven feasts who have fallen asleep in the church. They haven't fallen asleep because hey somebody says oh the next feast is when Jesus is coming back so he could come back October 2026 for example and I'm not saying he will but if everybody knew that people would still be falling asleep because that's what the Bible says happens. So the churches should be focused on why people are falling asleep instead of the feasts and when they are going to happen. I think too many of us want to just be know it alls and there are no know it alls in the Bible. I'm constantly learning Day of Atonement, also known as Jean Kippur Tishui 10, sunset september twentieth through september twenty first, two thousand twenty six, and sundown is october tenth through october eleventh twenty twenty seven. The prophetic shadow points to national repentance, final judgment and the physical return of Christ. In prophetic and end time views, the Day of Atonement is widely believed to correspond with the second coming of Jesus, the national repentance of Israel and the final judgment of the world the prophetic timing and connections the second coming many Bible scholars view the fall feast of Israel in a chronological sequence, while Passover and Pentecost were fulfilled during Christ's first coming, the latter fall feasts starting with the Feast of Trumpets or Rashahana and culminating ten days later on the Day of Atonement are believed to point to the end of the age and Christ's physical return to earth. National reconciliation prophetic interpretation of passages like Zechariah twelve ten suggests that the Day of Atonement pictures the moment a remnant of Israel looks upon the Messiah, mourns, repents, and receives him cleansing and judgment in Leviticus the Day of Atonement was when the tabernacle and the people were cleansed from a year's accumulated sin. In in time theology this mirrors the final eradication of sin, the binding or banishment of Satan and the ultimate cleansing of the earth before the millennial kingdom begins. The year of Jubilee, the trumpet announcing the year of Jubilee was sounded specifically on the Day of Atonement Leviticus twenty five nine through ten, which may connect to the ultimate liberation and restoration of creation during Christ's millennial reign. Feast of Tabernacles, calendar date fifteenth, sunset september twenty fifth through october second, twenty twenty six, and sundown october fifteenth through october twenty second, twenty twenty seven. Keep in mind these are not date settings, but these are simply when the feasts these last three feasts will be taking place prophetic shadow, symbolizing God's dwelling with his people in the ultimate millennial kingdom. The Feast of Tabernacles prophetically represents the one thousand year millennial reign of Jesus Christ. In biblical end time studies it follows the physical return of Christ signaled by the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Judgment signaled by the Day of Atonement. The prophetic timeline are the fall feasts Feast of Trumpets symbolizes a literal visible second coming of Jesus Christ gathering his people also known as the Rapture. Notice he's not coming to earth but he's going to be coming and hovering in space where we could see him I suppose and then we're going to him and at that time we'll be attending the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and our Academy Awards, meaning that we'll be going through judgment for our works, while at the same time on earth those who remain will be going through the seven year tribulation. The Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur, symbolizes national repentance for Israel and the final judgment slash removal of evil from the earth. Feast of Tabernacles symbolizes a physical dwelling of God with humanity on earth during the upcoming millennium of peace. Fulfillment during the millennium worship in Jerusalem according to the prophecy Zechariah fourteen sixteen, all surviving nations from the end time conflicts will travel to Jerusalem year after year to worship King Jesus and celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles God with us. The temporary booths used during the festival mirror the physical reality of God tabernacling or living directly among his people on earth during this peaceful era. Is this a message about the end times? Yes it absolutely is no giants aliens or demons, although those messages will continue as I continue to study these very important to know end time signs and wonders. If you notice the first four weeks, the spring feast Jesus completed exactly on the day of the feast or very near to them, what does this tell us about when he will return to collect his bride and take her home for the wedding feast and for the judgment of the saints works. I call this the heavenly academy award ceremony. It's hard to imagine that while we're up there going through that as his bride, at the same time people are down on earth going through the wrath of God. But contrary to what many believe that those who believe in the rapture have an escapist mentality we are currently going through the seven seals and if you read about those it's going to get crazy on earth. So we are not going to escape everything but just remember the seven seals represent the birth pangs, not the wrath of God, even though things will get pretty bad. Thessalonians four thirteen through seventeen but I do not want you to be ignorant brethren concerning those who have fallen asleep, least you sorrow as others who have no hope for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who sleep in Jesus fifteen for this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep for the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. Notice he doesn't come back on earth, he simply is in the air to take us away that is the rapture. So but pay attention we may be close. It's my opinion as well as others that that feast of trumpets is really close and it's very important considering it is the very next feast to occur. In Christian end time studies, the judgment of the saints work known as the Burma seat or judgment seat of Christ, Second Thessalonians, it's what I call the Academy of Words of Heaven, is most commonly placed before the seven year tribulation at the rapture or occurring in heaven during that seven year period before Christ returns to earth. And I believe it will happen during the seven year tribulation not before the premillennial dispensational timeline. In popular evangelical and dispensational frameworks, the evaluation of believers works unfolds in a specific sequence. The rapture, believers are caught up to meet Christ in the air, removing church from the earth the Burmacy or judgment in heaven Christ evaluates the quality of each believer's work 1 Corinthians 9 through 15 to grant rewards or crowns distinct from a judgment for eternal salvation. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb this celebratory event aligns closely with or follows a rewarding of the saints in heaven. The Great Tribulation currently on earth a seven year period of severe global trials take place and I've taught on this before but I believe that the seven years there will be three and a half years of what we call trumpet or shofar judgment and then three and a half years of bold judgment. The seven seals happen during the birth pain which is prior to the start of the tribulation the second coming and millennium Christ returned visibly to earth with his saints those who were raptured to establish a thousand year reign. So the first rapture and then the Antichrist appears to sign a seven year peace treaty with Israel, then while the earth, non-believers and all the rest who didn't read or believe the Bible will be going through the tribulation. At the very same time in heaven, Jesus' prior church will be attending the much anticipated Marriage Supper of the Lamb, and during that celebration, Jesus will be judging believers for their works, which is called the Burmistic judgment. This is not the white throne judgment which will occur at the end of time, separating the sinner from the saint, the sheep from the ghost. Now notice that those who were raptured and went home to suck with Jesus and collected some crowns will return with Jesus to rule and man with him for a thousand years. It is believed that when the saints are in heaven, we will be going through some training so that we know how to rule and wave Jesus as the King of kings and Lord before may the Lord make you increase in abandoned life to one another so that you may establish your heart claimless in holiness before your Father at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ before his saints. Now may the God peace the one who makes a wonderful and mighty God everlasting peace. May He himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit soul and body be preserved claimless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord of Lords and our King of kings who are high and lifted of faith and faith who has once and for all faith in Christ. As you might see and hear God may hear and respond to our prayers. To our God we stand and pray as he too always lives to make intercession for you while seated at the right hand of the Father. May the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead great shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting covenant make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you what is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ to whom we glory forever and ever. Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. To him be glory in the Church of Christ Jesus, to all generations.
